Inner Mongolia gets its first university charity organization

Inner Mongolia's Normal University announced the opening of a branch of the Inner Mongolia Charity Association on campus, on May 14, the region's first move of its kind, with the university, its Educational Development Foundation, and the Inner Mongolia Charity Association taking part in the ceremony.

The head of the branch, Bian Jianping, addressed the gathering by saying, "The purpose of setting up a charity organization at the school is to get more people to care about people with disabilities, especially those who are college students. We hope that all of society can create a good environment for young people with disabilities so they can get involved in society."

The Inner Mongolia Charity Association was established in 2011 and has had public service activities to help those with disabilities, helping more than 400 households with disabled family member with problems. The school's Educational Development Foundation, also started in 2011, has raised nearly 35 million yuan ($5.37 million) from all kinds of donors and has spent more than 15 million yuan on public education in the intervening years.
