The Inner Mongolia Development and Reform Commission has reported that the region had invested 23.04 billion yuan ($3.54 billion) in 87 heat and water supply projects by the end of April this year; further investment is expected to continue into 2017.
The further proposed investment in the 87 projects is 7.19 billion yuan: 5.59 billion yuan for 31 heat supply projects and 1.6 billion yuan for 34 water supply projects.
Local officials see a sound heating and water supply system as foundation for the urban development and an important element for upgrading the quality of life of urban residents. The implementation of these projects will improve the production and living conditions of poverty-stricken areas, and provide sustained and healthy development of the region and people's livelihoods.
