When China's State Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine announced its list of land ports for imported food, the city of Arxan, Inner Mongolia got a C-level classification for its port, making it the region’s third land port for imported food, after Erenhot and Manzouli.
Arxan is an important channel for China's growing economic and technological cooperation, opening more to the outside world, and developing tourism with Mongolia, Russia, and European countries.
With this certification, direct imports from Mongolia can have lower transportation, storage, and damage costs, according with Inner Mongolia's agricultural "going out" strategy.
