China and Mongolia agreed to open regular passenger transport lines between Mongolia’s Ulan Bator and Erenhot, the largest Mongolia-oriented rail and road port in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, according to the region’s transportation department on Nov 6.
The agreement was reached at a meeting on Sino-Mongolian passenger transport in Erenhot earlier. Moreover, the two parties agreed to open one-day cross-border trips, but not regularly. Delegates also explored settlement and dispatch mechanisms related to cross-border passenger transport.
The three agreements will increase Erenhot’s capacity for cross-border tourism.
The cooperation on cross-border tourism is a driving force for the China-Russia-Mongolia Economic Corridor. In the first China-Mongolia Expo opened in Hohhot in October, China, Russia and Mongolia have reached 10 projects on cross-border tourism.
