Representatives from 10 countries, including China, Mongolia and Russia, attended an academic conference on the ancient cultures in Hohhot, capital of Inner Mongolia autonomous region on Oct 12.
Sponsored by Inner Mongolia Museum and the region’s Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, the five-day academic meeting discussed ancient cultures in North China, Mongolia, Baikal and Siberia, such as the archeological development of China and Mongolia in the past decade.
The conference was a joint initiative by universities and research institutions from all three countries. With the goal of pushing research in these regions, this academic event is held every year in the three countries in turn. It’s the first time for China to host the conference.
Prior to the conference, the hosts have collected 167 papers written by 200 experts in four languages: Chinese, Russian, Mongolian and English.
