Inner Mongolia holds 15th session of Coordination Committee on China-Russia Border and Local Economic and Trade Cooperation

The 15th session of the Coordination Committee on China-Russia Border and Local Economic and Trade Cooperation was unveiled in North China’s Inner Mongolia on Dec 4, discussing issues like speeding up infrastructure construction for bilateral cooperation, the bilateral customs clearance environment, and bottleneck problems in bulk cargo importing and exporting. The session sought to improve the two countries’ trade volume.

The governments of the Inner Mongolia autonomous region and the Sakha (Yakutia) Republic held the rotating presidency this year.

The coordination committee is a mechanism that made its debut in 1998.Thanks to the mechanism, China’s Helongjiang province and the rotating counterparts from Russia enjoyed fruitful cooperation and communication. Their friendship, economic exchange and trade are growing and thriving. Meanwhile, the border ports and channel infrastructure is optimizing. Cross-border investment and regional economic cooperation also enjoys further and deepening development.

A series of cooperation agreements covering fields like finance, economics and trade were reached at the session, helping promote practical cooperation between China and Russia. China proposed to build the Silk Road economic belt, a sentiment echoed by Russia.
