Innovation drives internationalization

“Production organizational model reform” is used to describe reform from small-raising households to large-scale farming in Inner Mongolia.

This kind of innovation enables the cow raising industry to be more scientific, standardized and intensive.

As a giant company in Inner Mongolia, Yili has been devoted to the exploration of cow raising models as well as independent R&D. Through scientific and technological innovation, it seeks to lead the industry’s transform and upgrade.

To date, high added-value and hi-tech products accounted for 40 percent of the company’s revenue. It owns 1,525 patent authorizations as of 2013. Some of its research achievements lead domestically. It already has a diary products R&D team that of good organization and competent professional knowleges.

Meanwhile, Yili insists on integrating “bring in” and “go global” strategies in accordance to Inner Mongolia’s development strategy.

On Feb 25, 2014, the Yili European R&D Center was established in Wageningen University in Holland. In addition, based on agreements signed between China and Holland in the agriculture sector on March 23, Yili will cooperate with Wageningen University for a food safety guarantee system, the first systematic food safety program between the two countries.

Led by giant corporations such as Yili and Mengniu Dairy Co, a batch of dairy companies is growing up.

A green sample of the modern livestock industry

The dairy industry is one of the most mature in Inner Mongolia’s green agricultural and livestock products industries in regards to production, processing and export. It’s also a sunrise industry with relatively high profits and high industry correlation effect, according to Yu Guangjun, director of the economic research institute at the Inner Mongolia Academy of Social Science.

He went on to explain that the dairy industry’s development is efficient to promote the structural adjustment of the planting industry and rural labor transfer. It also helps to improve farmer income.

The dairy industry of Inner Mongolia has reached a high-end stage, which is crucial for local economic development. It also serves a leading role for other agricultural and livestock industries.

The advantage of the regional dairy industry should be transmitted to other industries and be a sample for local green agricultural and livestock products production, processing and export.
