German road sweepers to roll off Changsha production line next year

Foton's first German road sweepers are projected to roll off the production line at the Changsha Economic and Technological Development Zone, Changsha county, in early 2018, local media reported on Oct 30.
Beiqi Foton, an automobile company headquartered in Beijing, set up a factory in the economic and development zone on May 7, 1999, being one of the earlies enterprises settling down in the region.
Foton's Changsha factory has experienced a leapfrogged development during the past 19 years, with an accumulative production and sales volume of more than 900,000 vehicles, recording sales revenue of 45 billion yuan ($6.79 billion).
As the group's business expands, new breakthroughs have been made in its factories.
In November of 2015, Foton saw its 5-billion electric trucks and environmental equipment industrial park start construction in the same zone, in a bid to expand its business scope of automotive chassis, environmental equipment and other vehicles for special solutions.

The project is divided into two phases. The first part, with a floorage of 400 mu (26.67 hectares), is set to be capable of producing 50,000 sets of automobile chassis and 20,000 environmental equipment, such as its road sweeping series, sewage cleaning series and garbage transport series.

In recent years, the local government has sought to revive the region's long tradition in porcelain making and boost local industry with the cultural influence of ancient Tongguan kilns, which have a history of 1,200 years.
