Updated: 2016-05-27
Changsha Ecological Environment Protection Committee will host a series of eco-friendly activities for the Second Changsha Environment Protection Culture Festival in June.
The festival was established in 2015 to promote the concept of green development and raise public awareness of environmental protection issues.
The opening ceremony of the festival will be held in Binjiang Park on June 5, following which a series of activities such as hiking, drifting and cycling along the Liuyang River will take place.
A hiking event highlighting conservation efforts on Liuyang River and green travel will be held on the opening day. Starting from Binjiang Square, volunteers and citizen representatives will finish a 20-kilometer walk along the Liuyang River Scenic Belt, finishing at Hunan Agricultural University.
From June 11 to 25, a well-trained environment volunteer team will start an adventure trip along the 234.8-km-long Liuyang River by canoeing and cycling. They will investigate the ecological environment and clean drifting rubbish along the route.
More information about the eco-activities is available through the official WeChat account of Changsha Environment Protection Bureau, said the organizer.
