Cultural activities in Changsha county light up Chinese dream

A series of cultural activities themed ‘Chinese Dream’ kicked off in the Cultural Plaza of Jinjing town, Changsha county, Central China’s Hunan province on February 11, 2015.

Eye-catching performances such as folk songs, solo instrumentals and dialectal skits entertained local villagers.

“It has been the third time for me to stand on the stage”, said Rao Lide, a 64-year-old man, who performed Farm Tools Show together with some 30 villagers. The performance got the third place in the selection of outstanding public cultural items of Changsha county in 2014.

A principal of Jinjing town said that they would keep on training more talents as well as both the square dance and the dragon (lion) dance teams, in preparation for more colorful activities this year.

The town has been supporting characteristic cultural activities development for many years. In 2014, 20 such cultural activities were held. Among them were Jinjing cultural fair, a tea-picking competition and a photography competition for its tea garden landscape, the principal said.

The Cultural Plaza of Jinjing town is a new culture center completed in the end of 2014. With its 200 square meters wide compound and advanced audio and light equipment, the tea-themed stage is designed to feature models of lakes, wells and tea parks to reflect the culture of the town.
