Overview
This zone is in Xingsha, Changsha county, Hunan province, in a “6-zone” economic development belt, and was established on a 60 - square - kilometer area, in August 1992 and raised to national status in February 2000.
Its major industries are automobiles and parts, engineering machinery, electronic information, domestic appliances, new materials, food and beverage, printing and packaging, and logistics. It has Fortune 500 enterprises, such as LG, Philips, Danone, Mitsubishi, Nissho Iwai, Coca Cola, COFCO, and Bosch and prominent companies such as the Broad Group, Sany Heavy Industry, and Changfeng (Leopaard).
The zone ranks 22nd out of China’s 54 national development zones, and second in northern and central China and has played a key role in Hunan’s opening up, reforms and industrialization.
Under the 11th Five-year Plan, it has advanced new industrialization by using its own and central China’s advantages and now intends to lead western China and improve itself even more.
Advantages
The zone has access to a large transport network, such as the Beijing-Hongkong-Macao Expressway, Changsha-Yongan Expressway, Airport Expressway, and State Road 107 and 319, connecting it to Ningxia New Port to the north, Huanghua International Airport to the east, and the cities of Zhuzhou and Xiangtan to the south. It’s only 8 kilometers from the port, the airport and the Changsha Railway Station, and 5 km to the Xingsha Railway freight station.
