The Hubei Shennongjia Forest District and the Beijing Tourism Committee held a ceremony on March 6 to sign an agreement to promote the Shennongjia ecological tourism project at the Beijing Sunworld Hotel.

Qian Yuankun, secretary of the Shennongjia District Party Committee, and Lu Yong, director of the Beijing Municipal Tourism Committee, officially signed the agreement.

The two parties will exchange and interact on activities to promote primitive ecological and fashionable ancient capital city tourism services. They will bring Shennongjia into the Beijing tourism development strategy and extend Beijing tourism products and lines to Shennongjia residents.

They will push forward Beijing+Shennongjia tourism, share publicity resources and accelerate joint operations of the Shennongjia scenic area and famous scenic spots in the capital city.

Beijing will help Shennongjia overcome transportation problems during the peak seasons. They will provide more tourism information and talent exchanges to assist Shennongjia to with training tourism recruits.

Shennongjia is listed as a national 5A-level tourism scenic area. Shennongjia airport will soon open.

Cooperation with Beijing will enable Shennongjia to take advantage of the Chinese tourism gateway to cultivate itself into a major global tourism hotspot in the country.
