A gala for the Spring Festival was held on Jan 17, 2012 in the Wudang tourism area, followed by a series of celebrative activities.

From New Year’s Day to Lantern Festival, local folk culture activities will be on show at the Wudang culture square, and some TV feature films will be presented by local TV station.

According to a local officer, the Wudang tourist industry has developed steadily and rapidly in 2011, with a growth of 52 percent, 25 percent, and 57 percent respectively in visitors, gross tickets, and tourist revenue. In addition, the Wudang tourist zone was awarded various titles of honor, such as the 5A (the highest grade) scenic spot and one of ten most popular scenic spots in China.
