Nanyang's sixth Party Congress was held on Sept 25, and will conclude on Sept 29.
During the congress, an overall review of the governmental achievements of the past five years was presented.
According to governmental reports, the city in Henan province has made significant progress to improve the local economy as well as local residents' livelihoods.

The completion of the middle part of South-to-North Water Diversion Project
As the starting point of the western route of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project, Nanyang took two years to complete the construction of its diversion route, which traverses 185 kilometers.
The city also made great efforts to improve the water quality of the Danjiangkou Reservoir to meet the national standard. The Nanyang route started to divert water to North China on Dec 12, 2014 — benefiting a huge population along the route.

The successful host of the 7th National Farmers' Games
As the largest granary in China's central plain, Nanyang held the 7th National Farmers' Games on Sept 16, 2012.
In order to deliver a successful event, the city's organizers built or refurbished 15 stadiums and other facilities, including the 35,000-seat Nanyang Stadium.
The event lasted for seven days, attracted more than 4,000 athletes from 32 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities, as well as Taiwan.
The event was a huge success, giving a great boost to Nanyang's tourism industry.
