The Hengshui government has approved five projects to build modern rural areas. The projects will cover 800 villages in Hengshui. These projects mainly include the improvement of environment and resident housing conditions.

Infrastructure construction and ecological construction are also part of the projects. They will help build clean and comfortable modern villages with adequate infrastructure and idyllic scenery.

The projects mainly target improving the living conditions in rural areas. The farmers are encouraged to learn new technology for energy and water conservation. In housing renovation, the farmers are called to use environment-friendly building materials. By the end of 2015, the renovation of 30,000 dilapidated houses will be completed.

In regards to infrastructure construction, the government will promote the construction of a highway network in the rural area. All of the villages will be connected by roads and the streets inside the village will be renovated. A passenger transport network will also be built.

The construction of a safe drinking water project for rural areas will pick up speed. The pollution of drinking water will be reduced and controlled. Villages will enhance wastewater and garbage treatment. By 2015, garbage and wastewater of 50 percent of residents and manufacturers will be treated effectively.

Meanwhile, by the end of this year, every village must complete the construction of a medical room with a minimum area of 60 square meters. The medical room should have adequate equipment, with a diagnosis room, treatment room, observation room and pharmacy.

The teaching of schools in rural areas will realize informatization. Kindergartens that meet standard regulations will be built.

Nursing homes for the old in rural areas will also be constructed to realize comprehensive elderly care. By 2015, all the villages in Hengshui will be covered by the nursing home network.

Hengshui, through the projects, will promote clean agriculture, which includes the realization of clean garden and clean water sources.

Forest planting will be encouraged to promote greening the whole rural area of Hengshui.
