Hebei's education department has requested that universities should maintain regular contact with unemployed graduates this year, in order to help them with their job search.
All universities should have records about graduates who have not yet found employment, including their home phone number and email address. This will enable the universities to meet with these graduates on a regular basis to discuss their progress in finding employment, and offer them services including professional training.
The education department also urged all the schools to do their utmost to make sure that this year's graduates will find a job as soon as possible, and thus ease the low employment rate.
About 352,000 students will graduate from universities and other high schools this year, 16,000 more than the previous year. However, the employment rate is lower than the previous year's level, meaning more new graduates face difficulties in finding a job.
The department also said that there will be changes concerning majors that have a history of low employment rates for many years, and some will be cancelled or students will not be able to register for them.
In addition, students from low-income families will receive more assistance from schools. |
