The department of finance in the city of Qinhuangdao of Hebei province has plans to set aside 184 million yuan to protect its environment and deal with pollution-control, energy conservation, and emissions reduction in the city. In addition, another 35 million yuan will be used for landscaping.

The city government has increased financial allocations for environmental protection in recent years and the Beidaihe River, a famous local tourist attraction, has been given priority in the environmental project, with at least 11.7 billion yuan put into protecting its offshore area, since 2012.
