Hebei province has given 5 million yuan in disaster-relief funds for quake-stricken part of Sichuan province and says that it is ready to provide more support.

A team of earthquake experts from Hebei province has gone to Sichuan to lend support the local seismology bureau for analyzing data from quake-stricken areas and help with monitoring the afflicted counties.

Hebei’s civil affairs bureau began its emergency response almost immediately after the 7.0 earthquake hit Sichuan, this past Saturday, providing emergency hot lines and means for collecting donations. The 11 earthquake rescue teams and rescue dogs are waiting for more support, and getting much-needed equipment together. They only have enough water and food supplies for three days.
