According to Shijiazhuang customs office of Hebei province, provincial imports and exports for 2012 amounted to $50.55 billion, putting it in 13th place nationwide. Of that figure, exports amounted to $29.6 billion, a year-on-year increase of 3.6 percent, while imports were $20.95 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 16.3 percent.
In 2012, the province’s trade with the United States amounted to $5.63 billion, an increase of 8.8 percent, while that with ASEAN was $4.06 billion, for a growth of 19.5 percent. Export and import trade with the European Union decreased by 23.3 percent, to $7.05 billion. Private enterprises in the province took the lead in foreign trade, with export and import trade hitting $22.34 billion, an increase of 7.9 percent.
