The Shanxi folksong stage play “Red Peach Blossom” premiered on August 29 in Shijiazhuang People’s Hall.

The large-scale stage play consists of a collection of over 20 classic Shanxi folksongs, representing the romantic dreams and pursuit of love of Shanxi people. The songs are set in Shanxi and themed around peach blossoms.

The play was highly praised during its run at China's National Grand Theatre in the first half of 2012.

It has been brought to Shijiazhuang thanks to Shijiazhuang's cultural project to attract refined art performances. Carried out in 2005, the project has brought in many popular performances, meeting the cultural needs of citizens and injecting vitality to the provincial capital’s performance market.
