The Civilization Office of Shi Jiangzhuang is encouraging residents to be more respectful when riding on escalators.

This move aims to promote a civilized manner of “standing on the right, climbing on the left” when taking an escalator.

This activity is a part of public civilization guidance in Shijiangzhuang.

The goal is to recruit and train public civilization guides in the community and have them register as volunteers. Wearing armbands, the trained guides will organize activities to promote civilization in public places.

About 530 guides have already registered. Officials hope to register a total of 20,000.
