SHIJIAZHUANG, Nov. 22 (Xinhua) -- Zhang Qingli was elected secretary of of the Hebei Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Tuesday.

Zhang, 60, was elected to the post at the first plenary session of the 8th CPC Hebei Provincial Committee.

He had worked as acting Party chief and Party chief of Tibet in southwest China from November 2005 to August this year.

He was appointed by the CPC Central Committee as Party chief of Hebei Province in north China in August.
