Hebei province recorded 12.2 percent GDP growth last year, reported a local newspaper on Tuesday.

GDP, a gauge of the performance of the provincial economy, hit over two trillion yuan ($ 303 billion) for the first time in 2010, a year-on-year increase of 12.2 percent, Shijiazhuang Daily, a newspaper based in the provincial capital reported.

The data was released at a news conference held by the information office of the provincial government and the provincial statistics bureau on Monday.

Guo Hongbo, chief of the provincial statistics bureau, said two trillion yuan provincial GDP was a threshold for provincial economic performance, adding that enterprise revenue and the government revenue had also enjoyed rapid growth, with 41.9 percent and 19.3 percent respectively.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI), a gauge of inflation, rose by 3.1 percent year on year, said Zhang Xichang, a senior official from National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) for Hebei province, attributing the increase of CPI to labour wage increases and "imported inflation" caused by price-hikes of imported goods.

Per capita disposable income rose by 10.5 percent for urban citizens, and by 15.7 percent for rural citizens, the fastest rate of growth for rural residents in the past 14 years, proving that measures taken by the government to narrow the income gap between urban and rural areas have been effective.

For this year, the first year of the Twelfth Five-year Plan (2011-2015), Hebei has set its target of economic growth at 9 percent.
