A primary school in Shijiazhuang, Hebei province, has come under fire for asking students to pay 200 yuan ($30) if they wanted teachers to check their homework.

One of the students' parents exposed the scandal when they told local media that, according to a teacher, students who don't pay the extra fee were forced to get their parents to check their homework.

School authorities have apologized to the students and their parents for the flawed move.
