Plans were approved to build Hutuo New District as a low-carbon, ecological and intelligent zone. The Research on Hutuo New District Ecological Planning and the Study on Hutuo New District Low-carbon Planning passed expert review on August 13.
Research on Hutuo New District Ecological Planning explains the new district will use environment-friendly technologies to construct a harmonious and sustainable livable city. The proposal outlines six ecological branches, including Green Space, Environmental Pollution Control, Green Transportation, Energy, Water Resource and Salvaged Materials. The goal, according to the Study on Hutuo New District Low-carbon Planning, Hutuo will be in the beginning stages of becoming a low-carbon city in 2020 and become a world renowned low-carbon model city by 2030.
ARUP, an independent firm of designers, planners, engineers, consultants and technical specialists, formulated Research on Hutuo New District Ecological Planning for Shijiazhuang Municipal Government. The Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the University of Cambridge and United Nations Development Program compiled Study on Hutuo New District Low-carbon Planning.
A team of experts made up of Wu Zhiqiang, Shanghai World Expo chief planner, Zou Ji, deputy dean of the School of Environment and Natural Resources for Renmin University of China, and others passed the two plans.
