The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Hebei province in the first six months of this year amounted to 908.35 billion yuan, up by 14.1 percent, according to the Hebei Provincial Bureau of Statistics.
The growth rate is 0.8 percentage points higher than that of the first quarter of this year and 5.4 percentage points higher than that of the same time period of last year.
The growth rate is also above 11.1 percent, the growth rate of the whole country in the first half of this year.
However, the growth rate is bigger because of the quite low comparison base in the same time period of last year, when the globe was mired in economic turmoil, said Yang Jingxiang, vice director of the Hebei Provincial Bureau of Statistics.
Yang warned that Hebei's economy is under recovery, but people should not be too optimistic about it.
In 2008 and 2009, exports made a negative contribution to the GDP's growth, but in the first half of this year, exports contributed 2.7 percent to the total growth of GDP.
Investment contributed 50.2 percent to the GDP growth and consumption contributed the remaining 47.1 percent.
