During the Summit of BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) held in Sanya, more than 30 measures were taken to boost municipal management and promote Sanya's economy.
One amazing new measure is to establish a large-scale "tax-free shopping district" in Sanya, by taking advantage of the favorable tax-free policies in urban areas, stated by Wu Yanjun, vice executive mayor of Sanya, to reporters of Hainan Daily.
Relevant researches about the “tax-free shopping districts" have been initiated. "It is a relatively large integrated project, which will adjust Sanya's presently commercial facilities in a timely way, expand Sanya's business scale and improve business efficiency," said Wu Yanjun.
One criterion has been developed to change the store signboards with regard to the disordered state of stores along the streets. Before October 2011, the store signboards in main streets will be reconstructed in a unitary way according to this new criterion. Meanwhile, another new criterion stipulating the construction of storefront housing estates and building site walls in urban areas was established. The beige-colored construction decorated with tourism logos will serve as Sanya's "culture wall".
"Sanya's public traffic, which used to be criticized seriously for its poor service, will take a new look before National Day 2011," added Wu Yanjun. "With about 480 new buses and taxis put into service, great changes will happen to Sanya's public traffic."
