Guiyang, Guian set out to improve people's lives in 2022

The city of Guiyang and the nearby Guian New Area – located in Southwest China's Guizhou province – announced 10 tasks on Jan 26 designed to improve people's lives in the current year.

The tasks cover employment, education, medical treatment, convenient services, transportation, living conditions, public security, entertainment and sports, elderly care and rural governance.

In 2022, Guiyang and Guian will add 150,000 newly employed people in rural areas, including 40,000 rural workers.

The basic old-age insurance for urban and rural residents will be increased to 960 yuan ($150.83) per person per year, nursing allowances for the severely disabled will be increased to 30 yuan per person per month and subsistence allowances for rural residents will also be increased.

Guiyang and Guian will establish and renovate 30 kindergartens, primary schools and middle schools – adding 30,000 study positions at primary and middle schools – and establish and expand schools for impoverished and disabled students.

Public hospitals will add 1,000 beds, 13 community health service centers will be established and renovated, 12 one-stop outpatient service stations will be established and Guiyang's six districts will each establish a childcare institution.

Guiyang and Guian will upgrade and renovate 30 farmers' markets, establish 100 offices for justice and build 35 free public toilets.

Both areas will add 25,000 public parking spaces and all suitable parking lots for public institutions and State-owned enterprises will open to the public free after office hours.

To improve people's living conditions, Guiyang and Guian will complete the renovation of 50,000 houses and start the renovation of 40,000 houses in old residential communities. They will renovate 500 back streets, establish 13 middle and large-scale household waste transfer stations and equip 67 recyclable and hazardous waste collection stations in towns and townships.

Plans are for Guiyang and Guian to also build 39 small fire stations, establish 40 book-sharing programs, open 20 multi-purpose courts, as well as build 10 eldercare centers at the sub-district level and 79,000 toilets in rural houses.
