The "21st Century Cup" National English-Speaking Competition's Guizhou regional quarter-final for the junior school group was held on June 12-13 in Guiyang, the capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province.
About 200 competitors made speeches that shared their opinions and experience on the topic "Saving food, saving the world."
One of the competitors, Guo Sitong, is a student from Qianxinan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture. After three rounds of competitions, Guo successfully qualified for the quarter-final.
Guo said that she learned a lot from the competition and added that she could benefit from more listening and oral practice to improve her English.
Her goal is to become an interpreter who can handle challenging translation tasks at international conferences.
The quarter-final aims to select excellent Guizhou students to showcase their talents on the international stage.
