A delegation of journalists from the Chinese mainland and Taiwan started their visit to Guizhou province in Southwest China on Wednesday.
Journalists from more than 20 media organizations including Xinhua News Agency, the People's Daily, China Media Group, Taiwan-based Want Daily and Taiwan Shin Sheng Daily News will visit places such as the provincial capital Guiyang and the city of Zunyi.
Sponsored by the Beijing Municipal Federation of Taiwan Compatriots, the visit will last for six days. It aims at building a platform for communicating the will of people across the Taiwan Straits and promoting exchanges to help the public better understand the development of the other side and their own advantages.
Once a remote poverty-stricken province, Guizhou has made rapid progress in poverty alleviation as well as scientific and technological innovations during the past decades.
