The 2019 Big Data Expo that will be held in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province from May 26 to 29, will welcome another participant with expertise in artificial intelligence (AI).
Gao Wen, professor and doctoral supervisor of Peking University, as well as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), has been invited to attend the opening ceremony, take part in professional forums of the expo, and deliver speeches on AI.

Gao focuses on the research of video coding and analysis, recognition and composition of sign language, facial recognition, and digital libraries.
During the 63 years of AI development, great strides have been made in its possible application in finance, customer service, security, medical treatment, pilotless driving, and education have been witnessed.
As one of the first countries to include AI into its national strategic planning, China is at the frontier of the AI industry. According to a report concluded by the World Intellectual Property Organization, 17 of the top 20 research institutions with the most AI patent applications come from China.
This year's Big Data Expo is expected to explore the future development of AI with AI experts from across the world gathering at the event, bringing the latest research from the lab to the market.
