Various performances, including dances, singing, acrobatics and poem recitations, were staged to present the history of the PLA and images of military heroes.
"The gala features different characteristics of the three provinces," said Zuo Qing, the chief director of the gala.
Songs and dances from the Dong and Yi ethnic groups and Shaanxi waist drum performance brought the audience back to the days when the army fought for public liberty.
"The performances of red classics show the glorious tradition and strong ambition of Chinese soldiers," said Wang Guangrong, an 88-year-old soldier who attended the gala.
The performing troupe for the gala will also tour through Shaanxi, Hebei and Beijing in the following days, hoping to share the performances with more people and let more people know about the Chinese troops.
