A conference focused on green development and bringing together knowledge and action will be held in Guiyang, southwest China's Guizhou province, between July 8 and 10.
The Eco Forum Global Annual Conference 2016 will emphasize the concept of green development, highlight the characteristics of Guizhou and combine the theory with practice, to attract wider participation, said Chen Yiqin, deputy Party chief of Guizhou province, at a news conference held in Beijing on Wednesday.
Zhang Xinsheng, secretary general of the forum, said: "This year is the starting point to implement the United Nation's 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and Paris Agreement on climate change by UN's Paris Climate Conference."
China's 13th Five-Year Plan for Social and Economic Development also provides new impetus to develop eco-civilization, Zhang said, adding the forum will put more efforts into promoting and realizing a series of eco-transformation and green development programs.
The forum will be composed of around 30 sessions, covering international cooperation, policy interpretation, green industry and so on. Over 1,000 participants from UN organization, government departments, overseas famous universities and research institutes will gather to discuss strategies and practices on green development.
The forum is informal and high-level platform dedicated to green development, nature conservation and combating climate change. It has been successfully held thrice since 2013.
