The influential 9th Asian Youth Animation & Comics and Digital Contest, in the city of Guiyang, Guizhou province, Nov 20-22, had the goal of promoting originality in the industry in the Asia-Pacific region through online game contests, animation forums and start-up salons and brought a lot of benefits to comic fans.

The contest's theme was "Belt and Road initiative, innovation in animation and comics" and the province used it as a place to show its advantages in industrial development, and its entrepreneur-friendly policies and innovations.
In commenting on the results, Huang Hua, vice-GM of the Guizhou Publishing Group, said, "The contest will boost entrepreneurship and innovation by helping develop big data and Internet plus," then added that the event is a way for the province's animation and digital industry to keep pace with global development and provide opportunities for investors and startup companies to exchange ideas and show their creative products.

In addition to its influence on industrial development, the event's exhibition of comics and animation works brought a lot of entertainment to the visitors because, in the words of the organizers, "We hope to make it a cultural life carrier for all people," or, from the director of Guizhou Youth Time's comic research center, Du Hao, "This is the most fruitful year for Guizhou."
The organizers say that around 22 works out of 120,000 submitted from several dozen countries won awards and four of them were works from Guizhou.
