China General Nuclear Power Group (CGN) has agreed to invest 38 billion yuan (6.1 billion U.S. dollars) in two nuclear power plants in southwest China's Guizhou Province.

China's largest nuclear power operator will spend 35 billion yuan before 2020 on two 1.25 gigawatt generating units for a nuclear plant in the city of Tongren, and 3 billion yuan on a smaller plant with two 100 megawatt units.

The company also will invest 5 billion yuan in a wind power base with capacity of 1 gigawatt, according to an agreement it has signed with the Guizhou provincial government.

CGN runs 64 percent of China's operational nuclear power capacity and owns 51 percent of nuclear capacity currently under construction.
