Travel experts gather in Guizhou to discuss ecological tourism

Zheng Xu, deputy director of the Guizhou Provincial Tourism Bureau, introduced the forthcoming forum on ecological civilization and sustainable development to media at the press conference.

"We are doing our best to make the Ecology and Sustainable Development Forum a platform for leading ecological tourism, green and low carbon lifestyles as well as publishing international standards on environment and ecology," said Zheng Xu.

According to Zheng, professionals in tourism from Taiwan, Switzerland and Germany; delegations of tourism organizations and institutions; and many VIP guests including Zoltan Somogyi, executive director of the World Tourism Organization, and Du Jiang, deputy director of China National Tourism Administration, will attend the Ecology and Sustainable Development Forum and discuss hot issues, including the construction and management of the ecological travel destinations, the standard and systematic construction of green and ecological tourism, tourism’s sustainable development path, and the marketing and management of ecological tourism.

Also, the organizers hope that the opening of this forum can help promote the philosophy of environment protection, energy conservation and environmental-friendly lifestyle.

The forum is sponsored by the Eco Forum Global Annual Conference Guiyang 2014 and the Guizhou provincial tourism bureau. It will open in Guiyang on July 11.

Talking about the role of Guizhou province in ecological tourism, Zheng said, "Guizhou will strive to develop itself into an influential international eco-tourism destination and also a demonstration of China's eco-tourism, relying on its natural and cultural resources."

It should also be highlighted that the "World Top 10 Eco-Tourism Destination" and "China Top 10 Eco-Tourism Destination" will be announced at the forum on July 11.

This selection is launched by eight leading media entities in travel at home and abroad, including Ctrip, NetEase Travel, Baidu Travel and Lonely Planet.
