To deal with the upcoming express delivery peak for the Nov 11 shopping festival, Guizhou railway departments in Southwest China launched same-day shipping service from Nov 11 to 20.
Cooperating with online retail and express companies, Guizhou railway departments are adopting the vacant carriages of four high-speed trains departing from Guiyang to Guangzhou, Kunming, and Chengdu to transport light cargo, such as liquor, tea, medicine, native products, handicrafts, valuables, and documents which require fast, safe, and efficient transportation.
In addition, China Railway Express will send the packages to customers within two hours after the trains arrive at Guangzhou South Station, Kunming South Station, and Chengdu East Station.
The packages sent from Guiyang to Kunming can be delivered in as soon as three hours with the same-day shipping service.
During the shopping festival, Guiyang railway departments will equip the high-speed trains and common trains with cold chain containers to retain the freshness of goods like medicine and food.
It is anticipated that the shopping carnival will bring five metric tons of goods from Guiyang to Guangzhou, Kunming, and Chongqing every day, as well as about six metric tons of goods from Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces to Guizhou per day.
The nationwide railways will arrange 800 high-speed trains, 181 high-speed trains with reserved carriages, 22 high-speed confirmation trains, luggage cars of 450 common trains, and six express freight trains for express delivery, which is a record high.
