The Department of European Affairs of the Ministry of Commerce and the Guizhou Provincial Department of Commerce held an investment promotion event on Aug 7 to attract more transnational enterprises from Europe.
Companies covering high-end equipment manufacturing, energy conservation and environmental protection, life sciences, green agriculture, as well as modern service industries, including Roche Group, Asea Brown Boveri, and Bosch, took part in the event.
Attendees visited the national development zones, high-tech companies, and the national big data exhibition center in Guiyang, capital of Guizhou province.

In recent years, Guizhou has achieved rapid growth in its economic development and its big data industry. The cooperation between Guizhou and Europe is represented by the Swiss industrial demonstration park in Guiyang.
From 2011 to 2018, Guizhou had 578 enterprises invested in by foreign capital, signed $24.9 billion in contracts, and received $4.6 billion in foreign direct investment.
By this July, over 200 countries and regions had conducted economic and trade exchanges with Guizhou. Fortune 500 companies such as Dell, IBM, and Foxconn have invested in Guizhou.
Guizhou seeks transformation and upgrading of industries, striving to promote the development of the digital and green economy. Guizhou officials expressed hope that the event will allow more people learn about the business environment and opportunities in the province, as well as utilize the province's ecological environment with Europe's advanced technologies.
