Guiyang, the capital city of Guizhou province, hosted its first five kilometer color run at Guanshanhu Park on Oct 14.
Following the leadership of professional coaches, thousands of uniformly dressed participants ran the track. The untimed event emphasized fun over competition and interesting activities such as cartoon interactions, a photo wall and bubble show were featured throughout the run. At the finish, runners were showered with colored powder.
Several college students said that they participated in the race to release their energy and have fun. A Guiyang marathon runner said that her team always paid attention to new events and liked to get actively involved in races.
The color run race was hosted by Guiyang Huamei Plastic Surgery Hospital to celebrate its 20th anniversary. The race is a celebration of health and sport, which Huamei advocate as being an essential part of daily life. People were able to release pressure and share positive energy during the race.
Meanwhile, each runner participating in the race will donate one yuan ($0.14) to the Huameicheng Fund, a charity fund for helping those who are disfigured and impoverished. At the unveiling ceremony of the Huameicheng Fund, the race donated 200,000 yuan.
