Based in Zunyi, Guizhou province, Moutai is the top baijiu - or white liquor - brand in China.
As early as 1915, Moutai first won international recognition after garnering a gold medal at the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in San Francisco in the United States. Moutai also claimed two gold medals at the Paris International Exposition in 1985 and 1986, further increasing its standing in the world.
Since the early 1950s, Moutai has been used on official occasions in feasts with foreign heads of state and distinguished guests visiting China and it was called the national liquor of China.
Moutai was listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange in 2001. Moutai's market capitalization was 873.06 billion yuan ($125.97 billion) on Oct 9.
