Sun Zhigang, secretary of the Guizhou Provincial CPC Committee, signed an agreement with Xu Jinze, president of the Sejong City Council, during his visit to South Korea on Sept 19. The agreement aims to establish friendly relations and cooperation between the Standing Committee of the Guizhou Provincial People's Congress and the Sejong City Council.
According to Sun, Sejong is a city full of spirit and vigor with advanced an urban planning system and a livable environment. Its experience in urban construction and development can serve as a model for Guizhou's own development.
In recent years, Guizhou province and Sejong city have been staying in close contact. The agreement is aimed at increasing cooperation between the two places in big data, smart cities, agriculture, tourism, culture and more.
Li Chunxi, mayor of Sejong city, gave a brief induction to the city. He said that cooperation in urban construction and management could be enhanced by Guizhou’s big data industry and Sejong's strength in the construction of smart cities.
Sun hoped that the two sides would take the opportunity to strengthen research and discussion on environmental protection, the preservation of intangible cultural heritage items and big data security management. The two parties are expected to strengthen communications via exchanges, legislation and supervision.
Sejong is a new central administrative city in South Korea, and since 2007, it has had many successful experiences in the construction of smart and green cities. Guizhou province and Sejong city previously signed an agreement to establish friendly relations at the 2016 Eco Forum Global Guiyang Annual Conference.
