Deng Shudi, an athlete from Southwest China's Guizhou province, won the gold medal in men's gymnastics at the 18th Asian Games held in Jakarta, Indonesia, on Aug 23.
Born in September 1991 in Guizhou, Deng Shudi ranked second and third in the men's all-round individual and parallel bar events at the 2013 National Games of China.
In 2014, Deng Shudi won the championships in the men's team, all-round individual, horizontal bar and parallel bar events at the National Gymnastics Championships. One year later he was awarded the title of "world-class athlete".
In 2016, he won the silver medal in men's all-around gymnastics and the gold medal in men's freestyle at the National Gymnastics Championships. That August he won the bronze medal in men's team gymnastics at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games in Brazil.
