The Fifth International Sinologist Conference on Translating Chinese Literature was held in Guiyang from Aug 14 to 15.
The two-day event, hosted by the China Writers Association and the Guizhou Writers Association, attracted more than 40 well-known writers and a total of 38 translators from 24 countries, including Japan, Korea, France and Russia.
The number of participants and participating countries reached a record high this year.
During the event, attendees discussed two topics:" birth of a work" and "choosing works to translate". In addition, representatives of Chinese writers awarded translators from home and abroad the "Friends of Chinese Literate" certificate.
After the conference, writers and translators will travel to minority areas in southeastern Guizhou province to enjoy ethnic customs for their creative inspiration.
Held every year since 2010, the conference is an important way of promoting Chinese literature overseas, aiming to build a platform for communication between Chinese writers and foreign translators to help them learn the developing trends of contemporary Chinese literature.
The success of the conference will further promote foreign exchanges of Guizhou literature. The conference will also help translators and writers experience and understand the culture of Guizhou.
