Guizhou's 'Eye of Heaven' featured on national stamps

China Post will issue a set of special stamps featuring Guizhou's Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Radio Telescope (FAST) on Sept 17. The news came from the Guizhou Tourism Development Committee on Sept 4.

The unique stamps aim to commemorate the China's great achievements in science and technology.

Four other achievements are also featured on the stamps--Quantum Experiments at Space Scale, the "Discovery" scientific research ship, the Bohai Sea science and technology project and the Sunway Taihu Light supercomputer.

FAST, also known as the "Eye of Heaven", is located in Pingtang county, Qiannan Buyei and Miao autonomous prefecture.

The telescope has a reflector as large as 30 soccer fields, making it the largest in the world. It was put into use in Sept 2016 to probe space for the faintest signs of life and electromagnetic interference.

Guizhou has had six other attractions featured on national stamps in the past, including Qingyan Ancient Town, the architecture of the Dong ethnic group, Fanjing Mountain and Wanfeng Forest.
