Jiutou village, Xingren county expects to get rid of poverty through growing red kiwi.
In cooperation with Hongyuan Eco-agricultural Development Ltd, local authorities have set up a demonstration park for growing red kiwi. Hongyuan plans to invest 150 million yuan ($21.77 million) in growing the fruit on some 5,000 mu (333.33 hectares) land.
The first phase of the base has already been completed. Approximately 2,500 farmers are currently engaged in cultivating red kiwi, with more than 1,000 of them coming from poverty-stricken families.
