Guizhou is a key battleground for China’s current war on poverty. During the 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-15), 6.56 million impoverished residents received aid in Guizhou, however, there are still more than 3.7 million impoverished residents in the province.
The government has made a commitment to relocate over 1 million impoverished residents in 2017.
Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in 2012, China has made great achievements in its war on poverty. China has assisted over 10 million impoverished residents in rural areas each year from 2013 to 2016.
