More than 100 hiking enthusiasts enjoyed viewing karst landforms as they walked through the “eye of heaven” scenic region of Pingcounty on tang Feb 25 and 26.
The “eye of heaven”, otherwise known as the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST), is located in southwestern China’s Guizhou province. The telescope, with a size of 30 football fields, is capable of identifying gravitational waves, detecting radio emissions from the outer reaches of space and listening for signs of intelligent extraterrestrial life.
The hiking route covers approximately 40 kilometers, passing through tiankeng, or areas of naturally formed pits.
Several children accompanied their parents in the hiking group. Six-year-old Sui Zhongdao from Hong Kong is one of them. “This is my sixth time to take part in the hiking activities, and the views in Pingtang are very good. I’m so happy to see the ‘eye of heaven’,” Sui said
