Guiyang signed a deal with Hisense on Dec 28 to install a further 10,000 high definition security cameras in the Guizhou province capital.
The city and the electronics giant have been working together since 2012 to carry out the Guiyang government’s “skynet” plan which has already seen 10,000 public cameras installed in a bid to improve the city’s security system.
The new cameras have helped the city’s police solve 2,500 cases so far, providing almost 7,000 leads. Since 2012, 4.1 million traffic violations alone have been captured by the city’s cameras.
Hisense has worked with more than 100 cities across China on urban management projects featuring traffic and public security.
