Larger than life straw sculptures were unveiled in Guiding county on December 21 as the Second Straw Art Festival got underway.
More than 100 carefully crafted 100 straw statues of zodiac animals and figures were displayed in 42,000 square meters of lush countryside.
“The statues are so lifelike,” said Mr Wang, a visitor from Guiyang. He explained that he and his wife grew up in countryside and the straw creations reminded them of their childhoods when they would play in the field and herd cows.
The county held the festival for the first time on Jan 1 and developed the reputation of the “hometown of straw art”.
