The forest coverage rate of Guiyang has reached 46.5 percent, according to statistics from the city’s commission of ecological civilization.
More than 270,000 mu (18,000 hectares) has been planted with trees and plants, transforming stony desert into lush forest.
Meanwhile, approximately 10 million saplings were planted and management and protection work was carried out on some 5.41 million mu forestry resources.
Green land was also protected by strengthening the enforcement of laws and regulations. In 2016, Guiyang authorities have inspected more than 2,300 sites that produce and process timber, and closed eight unlicensed ones.
